Title: Car smoking
Post by: ten2doyle102 on August 29, 2007, 07:03:22 PM
Yeah...so i recently traded car with a fellow e30er and will...its burning oil.  well i was wondering how difficult it was to swap the valve guides.  I am thinking that that may be the problem.  If there is something that could be more likely to cause it to leak oil into the cylinders, that would be great.  It doesn't leak oil at all from anything, but it still burns about 1/2 to 1 quart of oil on an oil change.  I don't think that it is a horrible amount but i think that it is contributing to the exhaust smell in the inside the car.

There's a repair manual on here in the M42 Reference section. You can download it. Has specs and the whole deal.
