My car has 158xxx on it and does not idle well on cold startup. Check engine and battery light remain lit after startup until I rev it a fair amount. If I come to a stoplight before full operating temperature is reached, the check engine light comes back on.
ICV? TPS?

Also check for vacuum leaks from the rubber air intake bellows and all the hoses around the inlet manifold.

Thanks B.P. It is an honour to hear from the top of the hierarchy.

if your battery light is coming on either your alternator is done, or the belt is slipping. going from the fact that it works once you've rev'd it up, replace the belt as it sounds like its slipping. That may also fix your idle problem as well.

Thanks Mike. Excellent prognosis. I will jump on that right away. BTW, I saw Vanishing Point at a drive-in when it first came out. I was in 7th or 8th grade, and my first motion picture with full frontal nudity. Woot woot!
