About a month ago i bought a second 1.8is '90 with a ZF gearbox. After experiencing some hesitation before 2000rpm i took the intakes off to check the hoses. After dissasembling everything i found tracesc of oil starting from the AFM all the way to the valves. Also the intakes have a fair buildup of oil residues on the walls. I'm going to clean it all up tomorrow.
Isn't there any way to stop all the damn oil from messing up the intakes? Maybe some oil catch tank? Except the hesitation the engine pulled nicely. http://www.greddy.com/products/display/?Category=oil&SubCategory=30
My other e30 has a 08/94 M42 wich after 6000km of pretty hard driving is completly dry, absolutely no sign of oil in the intakes.

I have a greddy catch can and it still seems to get oil in the intake some how. I am planning on installing a baffle on the catch can and the oil pan (pick up).

This is normal as the crankcase is directly venting into the inlet bellows. It increases as the engine wears.

So the more the engine wears the more oil will go in the intakes?
Cleaned it all up today. Waiting for the gaskets to arrive. :)

Although illegal as it violates smog rules, you can plug the inlet into the throttle body and eliminate the source. A catch can will still allow vapor to escape into the atmosphere. Just reconnect the hose from the catch can to the TB and all's legal. Some experimenting with the location and height of the can might improve the situation a bit.

Have you baffled the Greddy catch can or figured out what was going on with oil still getting in the intake?
