Title: Oil pan return line: drill and welding tips?
Post by: nuvolarossa on August 14, 2007, 04:12:25 PM
Hi, there are particular tips of doing this on a m44?
What material is the oil-pan?
Is good welding it with MIG, or TIG is the only way to go?
bye

TIG would be best on it since it is a cast part, and TIG has the most localized heat.  However, you should get by fine with MIG on it.  The only concern when welding cast parts is cracking them, but based on the shape of the oil pan it should be fine for an oil bung.

is it aluminium?
I'm asking because I haven't gas for MIG, so if it's alu I need to buy the gas:D And if it's other metal, I'll weld it with no-flux core wire:)
