Title: Bentley Manual for '91 318is?
Post by: bmuser on August 04, 2007, 09:29:42 AM
So i bought an E30 Bentley, thinking it would have my car, but it doesn't. Covers the M10 84-86 318i, but does not cover the 90-92 M42 318is. What do i do. I checked to see if maybe the E36 manuals would have it, but it appears that they dont. Should i still keep the E30 manual? IM sure it has a lot of usefull stuff in it, other than M42 stuff.

There is no Bentley strictly for our cars. For the body and chassis you will need the E30 one and for the motor the E36 one is needed.

the E36 covers the M42/M44 engine in great detail and is very helpful, keep the E30 bentley for the chassis though.

You can find an electronic version of the e36 bentley HERE (http://m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2282)

Good luck!

So is the ECU wiring for the e36 m42 the the same as on the 1991 e30 m42?

From what I see they are, but a more expert opinion would be nice.

I don't think they are quite the same - doesn't the E36 M42 have a knock sensor?

Yes, the wiring is different.
