Title: E36 318is Turbo MANIFOLD
Post by: Tor Arne Kaasen on July 21, 2007, 11:33:50 AM
Hi guys! I am trying to build a turbo manifold. The space is different to the e30 is. the shcock absorber tower is less tilted and a tad forward.
I bougt the Ebay e36 inline 6 turbo manifold, and chopped of the two last pipes. I ended upp whit the turbo to close to the head and it thouches the shock tower. do any body have any pix of a manifold?

Yes i now is a M43 engine but same car

ops, I haven't read this . But it seems that you want to fit it for top mount, right??? If you rotate the manifold for bottom mount it fit right?
bye

i want it to be topp mounted, but if it isnt poseible, the sleeper it is.
Must make new engine moutening then. it is in conflict with the compressor inlet.

It's bad that it's hitting the motor mount... Do you plan solid motor mounts? If you'll build them post pics and tell me if they lower too the comfort;)

Well, that manifold is far from good exhaust manifold. The exhaust pulses won't travel freely and it will surely show (majorly) in dyno.

The manifold isn`t fantastic, its cheap China stuff. I know, but at 120usd.
The car isn`t for good dyno. its for smal trak running and funn.
That`s why i got the GT2860rs and not the GT2871R
I have seen people use oem manifoilds and just a colector tube stright in the turbo. it works.

And this must be better than that.
the eksos pulses are separat just before they hit the turbo, and thats a god thing. but not equal lengths.

Ok if i had a ton of cash, i would go for fab666 manifolds and offcourse the intake manifold.

The volvo 740tic 2,3 turbo uses a cast manifoild whith sharp angels and a stoneange t3. was able to squees some power out of it to.

Well, dyno is good preparation for track driving and significant part of your work will be affected by that crap manifold. Try to find a a manifold which has  equal length of pipes. Otherwise it will affect the fuel burnig process and ultimately whole engine performance is weaker. What is the point of building a turbo engine which has significant flaws at the beginning. That is basic stuff.

ose30 (http://www.m42club.com/forums/member.php?u=1021) Yes i am trying to use it. but i bougt the m50 one and did a choppy.:D
Frankie (http://www.m42club.com/forums/member.php?u=643) . i have`t found any manifolds other than Fab666. (for the e36)
That`s why i am writing this thread. to find a good solution for a workeabl manifoild. Equal lengths i less important than smoot bends, separat tubs, right size tubs, material. but i am trying to fabbricat the most cost affective manifoild. SS tubs are not cheap for one 2,5" bend in norway 500nok 90usd.

This is crap, but it works to, not proformance.

This somthing i want to go for

Works god to

damn i thought i was smart when i thought of that chopping 2 runners off the ebay manifold.   hows that goin?  that 666 manifold is nice but not my style, by that i mean im sure it cost 6x what it would to have a local shop make me a log
