Title: reading oil pressure, PLEASE HELP!

I've been trying to figure out a way to hook up a sender for an oil pressure guage but I am having 0 luck. Would it be so simple to tap a hole on the oil filter housing and get a reliable reading? If not the oil filter housing where could I tap in the engine?

If you find the port of the oil pressure switch that is already there, then add an adapter to it and the "new" pressure sensor.

You can use an electronic remote reading sender unit and gauge or a direct reading gauge unit.

On the top of my head I'm not sure where the current pressure switch is.

Let me look tonight and I'll get back to you.

This is far simpler than drilling and tapping and fitting and sealing.  It also worked a treat on my E12 M30B3.5.

The OE sensor is located at the base of the oil filter, pointing parallel to the engine block.

I used an adapter and have both the OE sensor and my gauge sensor in that port. Unfortunately, the place I got it from looks like it is no longer around...  the website is dead: http://www.gaugeman.com

UUC motors has a billet oil filter top that has 2 tapped holes for pressure and temp if you need it. About $100. Listed for the e36, but it is the same top as ours. Nice unit

Rather than buying one could I tap a hole in my stock cap and get the same effect?
