Title: ECU / Car won't start after engine swap
Post by: teampump88 on June 16, 2007, 04:41:00 PM
Whats up friends,

Just wondering, is the ECU from a 1991 E30 318i M42B18, the same as the ECU from the 1992 318iC vert? The 92 was an E30, not E36.

Having trouble starting after an engine swap with a known GOOD RUNNING M42B18 from a 92 vert.  It's cranking but won't stay on.

- Checked for spark
- Theres 48psi fuel pressure
- Firing order is correct 1 3 4 2
- Tried to spray Carb cleaner in the MAF, no go

Thanks!

i had a similar problem when i did a swap as well. I was missing a power wire to something... can't remember what it was though.

Yeah, I had the same problem right after my swap. Took a bit to figure out that I had mis-wired from the coils.
