some time ago there were posts about a MAF kit developed for the M42 motor, but I can't find any under the search function.
did the kit get deveoped and if so, opinions on worth/price?
TIA

the kit was abandoned. BMWmand91 made one that worked. but he's not making them in production. If your quest is dyno numbers then no it wont help you. but if you want better throttle response then yes it would help you.
my personal advice is if your going to extensively modify the car, or have plans to then get a standalone (piggy back if you don't want to get too involved) right off the bat, and then you can tune to any mods you perform.

There was a kit made by Miller performance, but I haven't heard much from them lately. Many people here made preorders, but unfortunately, work seems to have stopped and those people have not been notified of any changes to the best of my knowledge. For a mostly stock or lightly modded motor, it just isn't worth it.

Converting to a MAF will net you NO power in itself. A company was making one for the M42, and claiming power gains. This is only if you were to use their MAF with their performance chip. The power came from the chip, not the MAF.
A MAF will improve throttle response, idle stability and off-idle response (even mileage a little), but no power will be had from it. Ask me how I know lol. Sorry, it is just the way it is. Save those pennies!
