Hi,
New on here, relatively long time owner of a 91 318i.
Every time I take it for inspection, it fails for NOx. This time NOx and HC.
Everything on the car is like new, working well, and I do meticulous PM. No luck...
So, Im just curious, what emissions component has your M42 car failed for, and what was the fix???
Thanks!

I was way over on both. Took it to a shop that found nothing wrong. No vacuum leaks and all components working. I went to a different inspection place and all was well within spec. I have no idea other than the first place may have had a machine that needed calibration. I realize this isn't really any help but it's something to consider. I'm in Texas and had already went back to the first place for the one free recheck. I paid twice but got the sticker.

wait how did u get teh sticker if it still failed? because i have the same problem, my NOx is double the standard, an dmy HC is a little bit high.

You get one free recheck. At the first place it failed the first time and then failed when being checked the second time. I went to another place paid $40 again and it passed. So I paid twice and had three checks. It failed two and passed on the third one. The third one was at the second shop.
