Good Morning All
I have posted earlier that I'm on my way to renovate a 1983 E30 , 318i M10 i thought of doing the 318is E30 , i have located a good 318is M42 engine , my question is
Do i have to change the gear box ?
The ECU is that a problem how can i replace it do i have to find the ECU from the 318is and replace ?
Please advise
Thanks

The transmission should just bolt on, not a problem from what I know. You will need the ECU and wiring harness for the M42 engine, its not going to work with the existing M10 harness.

I believe that the m10 gearbox will not bolt up to a m42 motor,
m40 gearboxes will from 318i's 87+
not 100% sure tho but pretty confident about that.

I thought Soo , since it has an M10 engine , thanks for the tip
