Hi there
I'm knew to this forum so i would like to say hi to everyone , i will update my profile within the next few days , after i buy the car , i have a 325is e36 , but now i'm thinking of building a track car i'm interested in buying a 1983 318, i would like to do engine swap with the 318is 1991 is that possible , do i have to worry about programming or anything else can you please advise.

The 318is got a new motronic ignition system, so I think you would need to bring that over with the wiring harness & ecu. I have to ask, though, why bother with a swap when you could just get a 91 318is? Once you turned it into a track car I think the weight savings would be negligible, and you get 4 wheel discs with the IS, plus a better starting point with the suspension.
