Title: Homemade CAI headlight inlet.

I cannot find the thread so I will post it here and maybe admin can move it.  There was a red car black hood with a CAI in the headlight.

I did a "DIY".

I just used a thin screen "clamped in the headlight housing.  Then to secure it even more I got a computer fan grill.  Placed it behind the screen and tie wrapped it snug.

lol that was my car! yours looks good.  much more filtering than mines.  whered you get the outer screen from?

LOL, Al I am losing it.  The black is rain gutter screen that I painted.  The mesh screen along with the silver grill frame came from a surplus store, http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/   These guys have "abuncha stuff."  Those pieces cost me about $1.25 total.  

I also have aircraft scat tubing I was going to run direct to the box but never got around to it. Great project!

Isn't there a filter on the CAI? If so, the only thing you're really trying to protect against is rocks. The black rain gutter stuff looks great for that. But the mesh behind that is overkill. You might be surprised how much air a mesh like that blocks, and is likely defeating your goal of getting a cool air supply for your intake.

To demonstrate, maybe take a leafblower and blow it at the opening. I bet you'll be able to tell the difference with your hand on the other side if the mesh is there or not.

I agree on the physics 100%.  Problem in FL is bugs.  Right now we are in the love-bug season.  They are in swarms and will clog a filter really quick.  The front of a FL car gets the hell beat out of it from bugs.

Holy Cow! :eek: Is that your car with the bugs? Anywho, glad you used the red zip ties for the addition 2hp. ;)
