Where is this sensor located? I know it is usually in the driver's side brake duct, but that piece is missing from my car. What is the other end hooked to, or is it just hardwired to the OBC? I'm tired of it saying that it is -22 outside ;)

This will help you get started. On my E46 the probe is under the front bumper area.

It is wired into the OBC - should be a yellow connector on the driver's side, underneath the headlight if it's not hanging down behind the valance. If your brake duct is missing, that is probably why your OBC says -22F, since the sensor is mounted there. No sensor = -22F.

Thanks for the pics, but there are no cables that match that description or stype anywhere under the hood. From the wiring diagram it looks as though the sensor cable plugs into an intermediate cable before reaching the OBC. Any idea where that is?

I'll look this weekend when I get a chance, but I don't recall a second plug anywhere in the cable length.
I have the front end of the parts car pretty much naked, and the harness is completely disconnected to the firewall. I don't remember seeing another connector along that length.

Huh. That's interesting, because I don't even have the cable. I'm beginning to think it was either removed entirely or was never there in the first place.
-
It goes like this: temp sensor plugs into harness, harness and sensor plugs into another harness under the steering column.
-
Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately, I just had my column disassembled, and there were no looses wires that I could see. Guess I'll have to look again.
