Title: rack and pinion

I am sure this question sound silly to most of the expert in here.  But I like to make sure after a long process of installing a major part like the rack and pinion I finish it up with the correct fluid.  I don't have the bentley manual for this car yet, the owners manual only calls for "ATF" for the fluid in the power sterring.  Is that ATF as in MERCON DEXRON III  and other series or the AFT type F that is being used on Fords?  Please educate me so I can finish the job tonight or first thing tomorrow.  I miss not driving the car.  Thank for the help.

It's a late 80's to 1991 car. I think they had fewer types back then. Dextron III can be used as it's Dextron II compatible. It's not really a silly question considering what a rack costs and the time involved.

Thank you for the input.  Got some fluid this morning and finished the installation.  driveway is dry again from fluid not leaking out.
