I'm going to remove the ski port hole in the metal divider behind the rear seat.
Will this be worth it to help some bass come into the cabin from a powered bazooka tube sub? I know it's not a high power set up but it's sitting here in my garage so might as well use it, easy to remove for autocross too.
I do not have a center armrest backseat.

I doubt you are going to notice a differance

I have always taken it out. Every little thing helps. It especially works best when you have the seat with the middle-fold down portion :D

So it's better to just add good 6.5s or 6x9 in the rear and call it a day?
I'm interested in bottom mounting or flush mounting larger speakers in the rear deck so they are stealth.

I have a 10" in a ported box. It's always worked for me in all my e30s. I don't need a headache but I like to enjoy my bass.
I don't like rear speak configs personally. I usually just add tweeters (if not already present) and just add an amp and my box and that's always been adequate for my needs.

The ski hole is only useful if you have the rear folding armrest imo. On the other hand, having the metal punched out can be useful in other ways like carrying a half dozen 2x4's in your car extending from the trunk through the hole and out your moonroof. ;)
If you're a true audiophile, chances are that you are going to have most of your soundstage and main speakers up front. If you don't have any rear speakers or don't have the need for them, you can just leave the grills and ditch the rear speakers and have the bass port through those openings as an alternative.

Not an audiophile. I like to drive and corner. I like music too but my last car was an STS2 prepped Miata and no matter what you do the sound sucks. I'm just happy now that I can hear all of my music while driving. I've had this bazooka tube sitting in the garage so I figure I'd hook it up and punch out the hole. I'll report back if it helps fill out the music. I'm not looking to rattle my neighbors windows.
