Title: The Tax man giveth!
Post by: FL318is on April 06, 2007, 03:09:15 PM
Just got my return today.  After the fed tax gives me some, I got to give some to the county tax man.  When that was done I still had enough for the iS side skirts.  I just ordered them and will post a pic when they go on.

Next i need to find a suitable rear apron.  Anyone try an E36 rear apron mod?

Nice. Hopefully you didn't buy them new.

Here's what the tax man has sent me:

NICE!!!!!

You know we must have pics!  The skirts are new.  No luck second hand.  Found a rear apron.  Tell me what you think.

The black band will be white to match.  Not crazy about the dual exhaust opening.  Want something that works with the OEM skirts and lip.

FL318is: that rear apron looks like the mtech2 apron.. if you cant find a rear apron, just paint the bottom part to match your car.  there are a couple people on e30tech who have done that with matching side skirts and an is lip.  it looks swweeett

alpine003: what size rims are those and what car are they off of?

Thanks.  I was wondering about that.

Yea, don't get a rear apron just yet! Wait till you install your skirts and see how it looks. IMO, it looks fine with a stock rear valence.

Maybe this link will answer your questions.

As for the rear, I agree and you should try color matching your rear valence as this can give a more balanced look, especially on a light colored car.

If you do get a MtechII replica rear valence, make sure you get the one that comes in two pieces(rear bumper and rear lower half). Personally, I would just get the rear lower half and call it a day. The last thing you need is to have some schmuck tap you in the rear(no pun intended, haha) and have to replace the whole piece due to the fiberglass nature.

my $.02

No pun taken:D

Yeah, personally I like the bottom half of the spoiler.  Last night I polished my trunk minus the spoiler.  After I went out for an funeral, it started to rain.  The original trunk was on the car and rain came in through the pre-drilled holes. When I got home I took my salvaged 325is trunk, cleaned it and replaced the 2 lids.  I actually like the no spoiler look.

BTW, I broke down and bought some MHWs.

Nice.
Just don't start adding up any receipts in the future and you'll be fine. ;)

LOL!  Yeah, I think once I install the wheel, (http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/catalog/shopcart/MISC/POR_MISC_mowhel_pg2.htm)
skirts and MHWs I will cool it for awhile and save up for the DA/SC

I'm partial to Mtech 1 and 2 steering wheels myself. I just upgraded to 370mm Mtech2 from Mtech1. If you go the Momo route, just make sure you use loctite on all the allen bolts. ;)

Good to know.  I have the MTech 1 thats in poor shape.  The horn dosen't even work.  The fit is very loose.
Title: How about those skirts?

Hey:eek: ,

Have you got those skirts yet?
I want to see what they look like, even off the car. Can you post the part numbers and costs?

I want something for mine but I can't find anything I like:confused: .

Thanks

Cristian

I got mine from Andy Lund at Bav Auto.  I forget the price but they were very reasonable.  Plus the service is great!  I can't wait to get those bad boys on.

ha, so they are new! man im jealous, i wish my wheels looked that nice, the clear coat is coming off of the rears from tire chains:o . one not of advise.....dont use ALOT of brake dust remover spray (if you use it at all), it makes the clear coat turn a milky color and then you have to re-polish the rims, just my 2-cents.

forgot to ask: what size tires are you running?

2 of the rims are new. I do have some clear coat pealing on one of them. I'm thinking of stripping the clear coat on the 2 used rims and polishing the lips. Thanks for the advice on wheel cleaners. Maybe I'll just use some diluted Simple Green to clean them.

Tires are 205-55-15

Retail is $300 each but discount places like BMA parts can get them for around $230 + shipping to your place.
