ATTN -----Due to mixed feelings on these the price is being dropped to $115 as incentive ...Warranty will be for a 2yr period on that note.. R3V boys will also have this price and I will change that post as well
Hey, just seeing if there would be any interest in these. You've all seen em before, and currently there is a GB running on the same ones over at e30tech for $179 a piece.
Basically all the same attributes as the SuperSprint headers and at a huge discount.
The price would be $145 for these if we can get some interested parties together, and with enough interest, I could see further decrease in price, may be able to get em down to $130 or $125.
Post any and all interest here, and we could turn this into a nice GB for everyone;)
This is more of a trial run on these headers, thus the insane prices, get on this because I don't see this deal lasting long.

I would like to buy this, but how much of a difference is there over the stock header?

Probably not much. IMO it looks exactly like the stock one.
I'd rather hear from someone who bought these headers and installed them or a dyno sheet comparison.
-
anyone that has some experience with these pls post your thoughts, I am installing these on my IS in the next couple weeks, although, i have a Dinan chip as well as a AC Schnitzer catless exhaust. I would be glad to post some #s soon.
I would say you would pretty much have the same gains as the actual SuperSprint headers. As for the stock manifold, i'm thinking these are as different from them as you can get:confused:
I'm trying to find some #s for the SuperSprint headers now:cool:

stock headers are 4-2-1 and that is 4-1 if anything i think it will maybe add a little up top but will take away from the much laking bottom end. it will make a nice looking piece to dress up the engine for the price. at least thats my $0.02

They will discolor quickly.
These look like the taiwanese headers that have been on ebay forever.
-
i'm not sure about discoloring, they are polished SS, and yes they are pretty much the eBay headers

Yes, they will discolor.

hmm. looks like this ones about to go extinct!! restate your interest in these. #s don't necessarily have to rack up here, there are other GBs in place that will make up for the figures. Hopefully some of you guys will take advantage, and at the price i'm thinking how could you loose, SuperSprint replicas too not just random crap. I've got a 318is that i'm picky with on mods and i should be installing these exact ones within the next 2 weeks. i think overall it would appear cleaner and reduce on weight adding some function to an N/A 4 cyl
Wow, sorry, didn't mean to run-on sentence that. it's 4am...where are your children? gnight all!!!

For those who are interested in a comparison, here is a stock exhaust manifold that has been Jet Hot coated.
I would say that the longer tube SuperSprint version will help the upper end, but not sure what it will do to the lower end power - I would imagine that you would lose some grunt down low, which, really, is where the M42 needs help.
Just my $0.02.
-
sic, I wouldn't put those headers on no matter what the price was if I were to lose more low end grunt. So it isn't the price that's a factor because $145 is cheap but is it worth it losing some low end grunt for some high end grunt when that isn't really what the m42 needs.
I already feel like my m42 lacks low end torque because of the cams I have, I wouldn't benefit much at all , if any, by installing these headers you're providing.

ok, its all good, i'm still trying to find the SuperSprint #s for some comparison

And I wonder how they are related to the manufacturer of these?
http://www.supersprintna.com/technical/articles/replica_headers.php
Not trying to rain on anyones parade, but realistically, you often get what you pay for - and I've had headers that were poorly made before (actually, they were a pre-production piece, but they had issues with the flange mounting area). The money I 'saved' up front was easily spent in the MANY times I had to remove the headers and fiddle with the fit and alignment. And this was on my '96 Impala SS, where access to the headers was a) difficult to say the least, and 2) twice as hard, 'cause there are two headers and not just one.
I didn't see on Supersprint's webpage that they even make headers for our car - their application guide only lists an exhaust system. Anyone know where to obtain the original?
-
sorry, i wasn't implying a direct relation between the manufacturers, but the fact that they are replicas of the SuperSprint. I have found information searching for they're alternate fitment on the 1.9l Z3 on the SuperSprint site. Still no figures up from SuperSprint and seems to be only 1 in a few that they do not advertise the dyno #s for.

Probably cause there is little gains. And to answer the question above, I know for a fact they used to offer headers specifically for our cars. Now it appears they don't have that as an option, perhaps the z3 or e36 headers would work as well but I wouldn't be able to check that. Maybe send them an e-mail asking about fitment and what gains/losses are to be expected.
-
I asked eisenmann about headers and exhust and they said they were totally different from e36 but then again not sure some one chime in.
-
Well, again FWIW, I will say that I have a beautifully powdercoated exhaust manifold, never run since coating, sitting in my garage. It's off of an E36 M42 - the flange bolts perfectly to the exhaust ports on the head, but the collector end is off enough that it definitely doesn't fit. :) It's in the FS section now...
This header looks to be a different animal entirely, as the pipe comes down too far to join the cat at the stock location.

These have optional fitment for the E36 318 and Z3 1.9l so i wouldn't understand any real differences the Supersprint headers could have between the models. As fot "bolt on" status, i'm sure that these require cutting back any stock system pre-cat.

Also due to the stock header back being a 2-1
