fuses 1 and 2 are 7.5 amp fuses for the left and right high beams. as soon as I turn the high beam switch on BOTH of my high beam fuses blow! I have traced the wires from both lights to the fuse box as much as i can see and i don't see any breaks in the wires or anything else fishy going on. any suggestions? what about a faulty high beam relay, could that cause it?

Since it's blowing both fuses, it's likely something that they both have in common. The relay sounds as likely as anything. IIRC the high beam relay is the same as the low beam relay, so just swap them out and see if the problem migrates to the low beam side of the house.

ill try that and see

are they the stock high beams. when i put my H1 high beams in W/100W bulbs i had to put 10A fuses in.

stock sealed high beams, but i have HID bulb kit for the lows. I checked the relays. i have yet to determine if the high beam relay is bad b/c it is not interchangeable w/ the low. the low doesnt have the prong in the middle labeled 87a. high relay has 5 prongs where the lows have 4. maybe i'll try 10amp fuses as well

i tried the 10amp trick and it worked! thanks christoph. i had put off trying to fix the problem for like 4 months just b/c i was lazy, but i have to get inspection soon so now i needed to solve it. im glad it was something easy.

When I put my H4's in the low beams, anytime I used my highs the fuse would blow, I assumed it was drawing too much current. I will try the 10 amp fuse.
