nice car- not diggin the wing or neons though- to each his own i guess. get some suspension and lower that badboy
-
thanx man. the wing grew on me. i'll try and get some pics of the neon at night. i like the red neon b/c it goes w/ the stock interior dash lights. you'll see
-
hey, it's SPRING-TIME... get what I'm saying...?
post more photos... we'd love some information about the FPR unit...
rock on, rock on!!
-
That intake looks like it flow a lot less than stock. Welcome!
-
im not digging all the chrome or the antlers. nice car though.
-
ya, no chrome and the intake does have way too many bends IMO and the wing is a no go for me. But that's why my car looks different so to each his own. I love the black interior and am jealous I got stuck w/ tan, but oh well, life goes on.
-
not a huge fan of the wing but its not to bad. Maybe a turbo or something in the future to justify it?
-
i made some changes, added some things, and lost some chrome. now i just need time to take pics
-
the FPR is a Cosmo Racing unit. hooks up pretty simply. i like the vdo gauge built in.
NEW Upgrades!!!!
-CCFL angel eyes installed (these are hot!)
-BavAuto HP Ignition Coils (awesome upgrade, recommend)
Projects Completed
-manual-turn-on switch for aux fan (must for engine fan delete for stop & go traffic)
-Smooth out intake piping (less sharp bends)
In the works
-newer used tranny install (my current one grinds more than my coffee maker, such a pain!)
-BMP LW Flywheel (i can't wait for the test drive after this one!)
-injector upgrade (mustang GT injectors)
*i'm getting 8 injectors so i will have 4 left if anyone is interested $20 bucks shipped, i use paypal
-
nice car, i'd have to agree with the rest on the wing and red led's but again, to each his own:) i redid my carpet black, so now i only have the cargo shelf is grey and headliner is tan, so i'm halfway:) get some more pics!
-
yo jfdublyu.... any plans to lower the car?
-
yes lower it!
-
dude, guys, i have so many plans for everything, i.e. suspension, body, s/c, back to the future style doors (j/k); there's just one problem. Ya see I'm currently nineteen and trying to get the funds to go to Advanced Technology Institute in VA Beach for the high performance auto program (like $24,000!), so i don't have a ton of money lying around! However, if anyone would like to donate to the "JFW needs to hook up his bimmer foundation" please feel free. I would be more than ecstatic to give you my PayPal I.D.. My upgrades come one at a time and few and far between when they cost a lot of money (like suspension), and I don't even have a garage to work in (I'm in D.C. for a month). So bear w/ me as I turn my bone stock 318is into a bone rock BMW performance machine. Anyone have any $100+K/yr. job offers? that could help too. I can change oil pretty fast and lick envelopes, whadya got?

How do get the aluminum intake and valve cover to look like that? Mine still has traces of that OEM "rotten teeth" yellow.
-
i actually just painted the valve cover black, which looks a LOT better. the intake manifold is still silver look though. Really easy man, take a couple trash bags and cover/tape everything around the engine so overspray doesn't hit everywhere. then just spray paint away! I used a couple a couple quick coats of primer first, then a metallic spray paint, and then an auto engine clear enamel spray to resist high heat. all are at home depot. the spark plug cover i just spray painted red and the bought a small brush and white paint and hand painted the letters "BMW". When I repainted the valve cover to black i did the same thing only i took the cover off and painted it separately to avoid the trash bags and overspray. the red spark plug cover looks even better against the black.
-
i re-did the intake piping to be less bendy (is that a word?) and have the filter on the other side of the engine bay near the ground not right behind the radiator and i put a heat shield around it. i could tell a little difference in low rpm in first where more heat was kept out and cooler air getting in. the bimmer goes in the shop wednessday for the tranny and flywheel swap! i'll try to get some times after the work is done and she is running perfect.
-
How do you like the proxes 4s?
-
i love em! they are really sticky and have good treadwear. i have done some drifting, but it was after rain so it was easier to break 'em loose, but when they finally catch, man do they rock. it also rained really hard on Monday and i was on I-95 going between 80-95 just runnin through traffic and didn't even hydroplane switching lanes. very good wet traction. if want high performance tires w/o having to own two sets (winter and summer), i would definitely recommend these. i don't have the money to have the best dry summer tire and have all-seasons, so i got these high performance all-season
-
i miss her already! my car has been in the hands of the transmission shop since this morning and I am DYING to see how she will drive when I get her back. I'm getting a newer tranny installed aswell as a JB Racing 9lb flywheel from TMS. that aluminum flywheel is a serious work of art. I almost just put a chain on it hung it around my neck for some P-impin Bling-Bling! J/k, but it definitely cost more than most people's mall stand fake fling-fling! a full report will be in order when i get her back, hopefully tomorrow, but look for the report in the driveline section
-
im hitting the drag strip tonight! I really want to dyno my car to get info on my hp at the wheels, but hopefully 1/4 mi. time will give a pretty good idea. then i can compare w/ you guys to dry and get a rough estimate of hp
-
Sweet. Can't wait to see how much that FW affects acceleration. They say it's helps DRASTICALLY, which makes sense, but I wanna see #'s!!!:D
Also, let us know how much it affects drieability. Thanks.

"W" Tech isn't your idea though...
See Mario's site at Vintage Sportscar Racing in Bowe, NH. They have been selling the "W" Tech "Wildknob" for a while. A lot of the E30 M3 guys are running it. It started as a joke because the "M" is a trademarked logo but turning it upside down as a "W" is not. Now those guys all run with it as a "W" for kicks.
http://www.vsr1.com/e30_shift_knob.htm
I thought about getting the aluminum Wildknob as it's only $35.
-
yo, I made up the "W" tech b/c (1) i also caught that it was an upside down "M" and I thought that it would be funny, but also (2) my last name starts with a "W." If you look at my s/n "jfdublyu" you get "j" (my first initial), "f" (my middle initial), and "dublyu" (my own creative spelling of the letter "W").
As far as the flywheel driveability is concerned. let me repost from a thread i wrote in the Driveline section:
"Driveability:
I drive this car every day probably more than anyone else drive's theirs due to my long distance work commute, and I can cope w/ the changes. the only setback is the slight chatter or whatever it's called due to single mass flywheels inability to dampen vibration on a solid hub clutch disc. I only really noticed this chatter in 2nd and 3rd gear when i let off of the gas pedal between 3500rpm and about 2500rpm. if the wind is in your face you won't even hear it, the same w/ some tunes blasting, and idle isn't bad unless you're outside of the car, but no louder than the ticking of a 325's tappets.
i don't care what conversion you do, but if you want to upgrade your m42 at all, make this the top of your list right now if you haven't done it already. i would only second this mod to a performance chip. the chip and LW FW will completely transform the m42. if you love it now, you will scream with joy everytime you drive it after the upgrades. definitely a MUST for tuning this bimmer!"
-
that's pretty funny about the shift knob. i made my own emblem though using the M. it's stuck to my glove box. i'll try to get a pic sometime but it basically just the ///M upside down to be W/// and the three slashes are colored (from left to right) red, silver, and black to match my red/black bmw roundels on the hood, truck, and wheels. kinda my own "red" bmw theme. red is better than blue
-
red is better than blue
LOL. I hope you are referring to red on your car due to the color scheme you are running. It would be impossible to compose an objective argument of why red is better than blue or vice-versa.;)
