The place I go only offers 87 octane and 93 octane. Am I the only cheap bastard out there that mixes a 60:40 ratio of 93 to 87 to get at least 90 octane?
-
Yes :p
I fill up with 91 octance for the stock ECU and 93 octane for the chipped ECU
-
If I put 5 gallons of the 87 octane in the car and it is about $.2 less, that's $1! Well worth the two credit card transactions at the pump!
93 octane has climbed back up above $2.50 here in MA.

I thought seriously about doing that, but like you said, when you do the math it only works out to be a dollar or less. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble. Good on you for going the extra mile though!

2.50 is nothing compared to buying gas here in nyc. Everytime im in MA and fill up i cry that 3hrs later half of my cheap gas is gone.

I have to do 93. MarkD won't allow anything less.

Oklahoma! 10 cents less than Texas. Still not worth going there.

I just run the 93 octane. The cost difference is minimal and honestly, I hate spending more time than necessary at the pumps anyway, between the lady with the cell phone on one side and the guy with the cigar on the other... :)
No kidding, I watched a dude with a smoke hanging from his mouth plop his plastic gas can on the tailgate of his truck and proceed to fill it one day.
I felt like asking him to give me a minute to drive away before he blows himself up. Instead, I informed the attendant, who gave me a blank stare, as if I had horns coming out of my head and had asked directions to the local baptist church.
I got in my car and drove the hell away from there, and haven't returned.

Ha! I've been doing that since I bought my car. I only run Chevron and mix 89 with 91 (50/50). i just got my chip so I can only run 91 or higher now. Unfortunately, I have never seen 92 in here in CA. I hear there's a good redline octane booster, but haven't been able to find it at Kragen. Anyone know which one it is and where to find it?

I hear ya - I hate it when people even leave the car running while pumping gas - nevermind smoking!

Over here the 100 is 1.3$/liter and the 95 one is 1.12$/liter. :) I only use 95.
