Anyone have experience with Cibie CSR's. They are pretty expensive, just about the same price as ellipsoids i think. Are they worth the money? Are ellipsoids with the money? Or are H1/H4's good enough. Dont want to spend too much on lighting. Also, these are just plug and play right?
-
I think the h1/h4 setup puts out a nice light as i have seen them on a local 318is and they are what I would do. I believe that you can just plug and play them but I don't have them so im not 100%. But I also do love the smilys.

My dad has the H1/H4 conversion on his 318is and they are impressive. The low beams on his are brighter than the low beams on my ellipsoids and the high beams are pretty much the same.

Hellas or Cibies?

I like Depo's

Cibies are very good lights, but they aren't worth the money over H1/H4's IMHO. Not sure if they are plug'n'play, but if you do a lot of night high-speed driving, they're good. ;)

Thanks everyone, i think when the time comes.. im gonna go with the h1/h4 setup.. unless i come across some ellips for DIRT cheap.
-
What brands do folks recommend for H1/H4 kits?
I had some for my Miata that were a great improvement and they were noname ones from JC Whitney. I just wanted to try them out and ended up keeping them.

http://Http://rallylights.com/ sells the OE style hella H4 lowbeam drop in fixture. Its nice b/c you get the replaceable h4 lamp.
There is also a cibie (sp?) H4 kit that people swear by. Sorta hard to find tho.
finally, i have noticed on ebay that there is now an adaptor plug and cutoff assembly that can put a xenon d2s HID lamp in an H4 fixture... Those things would be absurdly bright.

Are the Hella OE style smilies? They say there's a city light bulb. How is that setup? The price is very competitive and it also looks like they plug in to the US OEM 2 and 3 prong wiring plugs. A set of four is $174.46.

they aren't smiley lights, just a reflector with no projector assembly or cutoff, which some people prefer... they are drop in replacements for sealed beam (stock) fixtures...

I have the Hella H4 housings with Osram silverstars. The light output is AWESOME and they were cheap.
-
Crap, I just noticed that both of my lights on the drivers side are broken :(
I just ordered a H4 housing and 2 H1 housings on ebay for pretty cheap.
-
Could always replace them with these:
