Very nice!  Welcome to the club!

Would you happen to have any pics of the rear GC setup?  I have always wanted a good look at how it all sits back there.

very understandable, but yeah I do like the ones on it right now.  Weaves are a good look for e30's ;)

Weaves (BBS, Stock, just any weave design) and Alpina's IMHO> everything else

That ain't too cool Morgan.

Post up your ride, let them decide which is better. And thanks Febi Guibo (whats your real name?), that means alot. I found the BBS RX's off a guy nearby, he had them for ages, didn't want them, sold them to me with the tires and spacers for $280.

Yep.

How's the wheel fitment?

Looks great! I think a set of euroweaves would look amazing on the car though...

BTW what happened to the front valence?
Title: M42Technik: Now featuring more pictures
Post by: M42Technik on August 05, 2007, 11:08:08 PM
Wheel fitment is not perfect, need to fix it really.

As for a set of euroweaves, no thanks, thats too OEM minimal, I am going for OEM plus look, and cleaned.

The M-Tech II valence has been beaten up from this being my first lowered car and not knowing how to drive it when low. Scuffed it up a lot, and the electical tape I put over it would make the paint crack more. When I peeled it off to put more electrical tape, it would pull the paint off too.

Long story short, its getting a full M-Tech II kit, and it will be repainted.

That look like peeling more than scuffing to me.  Did they add flex agent to the paint?  I'm wondering if that's the problem.  Or maybe the prime job was bad?

Not sure, I will tell them to add flex agent next time they do it, I don't want to have it repainted every time I scuff it.

Depends on the tire you run really, that and how low you are. Can't say for you really, just make sure you have the right sized tire. Google Miata Tire Calc and that will give you the right size depending on what you go with, 16 or 17"

Haha whatup kid.

To answer your question on the wheels, you won't find a set. They're really stupid rare. I've only seen 3 sets ever, including mine, and one set only had 3 wheels to it.

Back in the day, TRD called on CSI to make them 3 piece wheels and others for Toyotas. Luckily older late 80's Toyotas had lower offsets than they do now. Here's a brochure:

Sadly I thought these were 16x7" but the guy was measuring from the outer lips, not the inner like he should have. They came in 17x8 too! I wish I had those...anyways onto some pictures...

And as for future plans, I just don't have the car as a priority right now. I need to be in a job that can actually support my modding habits. I'd really like to go all out and restore this E30...but after alot of talking with everyone, it makes more sense to have an E30 M3 because of appreciation rates.

I'd rather restore something that I could get my money back from, right? We'll see.

I do have an M-Tech II kit (sans rear wing), but I am waiting on one last piece, one of the sidepanels is missing. Its a crazy story too, a guy found it on a junker in Florida, US panels (with sidemarkers), and the really crazy part is that it was on a 318iS. Not a cabrio.

The rear valence has a cutout for only ONE exhaust too, so I knew it was 318iS specific. Pretty crazy.

My plan was to paint the whole car and do all the subtle bodywork changes I wanted, including no doorlocks, etc...and then add the kit as well. But my OCD tells me to replace my bent up hood, fenders, etc...so it adds up. I have a list, but can't justify spending that much.

Also, M-Tech II E30's look oddly shaped with 15" wheels, so I'd have to go 16 or 17", so I have ideas for that too. If I do end up getting a better job, I'll either fix this one up right and have a daily too, or get an E30 M3 and restore it.

So thats all for now folks.

Neither, just bought a new antenna mast and seal. The 318iS had black mast tops and seals rather than chrome.

Your car looks great, but it needs a wax badly.

My antenna is chrome as well. I though about going with a z3 one because I had to replace it last month, but I don't want to drill a hole in my roof and I really don't want to have to deal with all of the rewiring. Now I have it on a switch so that it only goes up if I am actually listening to the radio. With the ipod plug, that isn't very often...

Yep, its pretty amazing up close, it really is gigantic, and it doesn't look that way from 495.

Anyways to update you all this happened:

So it finally happened. I have NEVER had a problem scraping around town nowadays, and last night while headed to a party around 9PM, I had to make a U-turn at a light.

I take the turn, and there is a huge dip in the road, and I hear a light scraping sound, nothing absurdly loud or scary, just a scrape I heard all the time from my catalytic converter scraping bumps.

I pull over and keep the car running, nothing seems out of the ordinary. I check underneath and I see nothing, but it is dark and I don't have much light out.

I go to the party, and as I'm leaving around 2:30AM I start the car and my oil light comes on. I head to the nearest gas station (2 minutes literally), and thats when it hits me.

I check under the car in light, and there is a crack. So around 3:00 I call Geico and they have a tow service for free (which is excellent I might add), and I get my car towed around 4:00.

5:00 I get home after dropping the car off at a shop in Rockville.

Thats what I wrote on R3V...anyways it is all taken care of and I had some other stuff repaired and replaced at the same time. Good stuff. It took a while to get my car, and I was E30-less for 10 days, and it drove me crazy.

But now there is lots of new rubber and I am happy. I have to do an alignment and also fab up some special hub-rings for my wheels. They seem to sit funny on the hub, I'm not sure what it is...

I have a very good friend who works there who has an S50 powered E30...but I have never brought my car there, far too expensive for my blood. They do good work and there are a bunch of mechanics who understand E30's very well, but just so expensive.

I did steal a europlate from them once.

The car was nice.  Dan had an accident in it earlier in the year.  He is alright.  I havent talked to him in a while.  I think he was still deciding if he was keeping it or getting another.
