Hey folks! Glad I found this forum, what a wealth of information. Even though forums have been dying, I'm glad I found this place. My name is Gabe and I live in Albuquerque, NM. This is my 4th E30 (might be stretching it). My first was a '91 318is with a smashed up front end. I found a donor car and clipped it and got it back looking reasonable and my father got it running right after a couple headgasket issues. Sold it to a new owner and didn't look back on the platform for a bit. Until, I purchased an 89 M3. Torn up, modded, just effed up. I do wish I would have kept it and fixed it but it wasn't in the cards monetarily at the time. Sad sad. Several years after and man regrets, I pick this up about a month ago:

She runs well, drives reasonably, but needs some attention obviously, both cosmetically and mechanically.

Quite a bit of work done already. I'm catching up here.

-New 205/60/14 tires to replace the old, dry-rotted ones
-New Windeshield
-Replaced oil filter housing gaskets and dipstick o-ring

One less oil leak... however, there were 3-4 more on the cardboard underlay. So, as much as a PITA it is to seal a timing cover and both oil pan gaskets in the car, I'm yanking it the whole thing out. I can tell the rear main is leaking too without even getting it out. But, good times. Super easy car to work on, besides that bitch shift linkage, WTF, must be a learning curve there.

Motor almost ready to pull, just heater hoses and engine mounts:

Leaks like a civ. From valve cover to rear main (and beyond) is the reason to pull it out. Seal it up, paint the engine bay and address the rest. Can't wait for a leak free E30!
