Title: 91 rubber air intake tube replacement
Post by: Ryan1 on September 15, 2018, 09:49:42 AM
The air intake tube on my 91 318is is dry rotted and cracked. Looking to replace it, so does anyone know of a good place to buy a replacement or know of a place that sells a silicone or rubber coupler for that odd throttle body size.
I'm going to boost the 318is on a budget so I will have to hack a stock style intake tube or find a coupler.

If you mean the one between airflow sensor and intake manifold, I recommend the BMW brand from dealer. The other brands are crap and will crack sooner.

I really prefer the OEM rubber boot from BMW. Avoid MTC, they're cheap but only last like a year.

ECS tuning is close to me, had the OEM boot for about $60 IIRC. Pelican Parts, AutoHausAZ and BluntTech are all fine vendors too.

Samco used to make an E30 M42 intake, English company AFAIK, but I'm thinking those are all long out of production.

I bought mine from the dealer for about $32. Direct fit and it came with the vacuum line plug that is underneath it along with the inside metal ring to keep it from caving in under hard acceleration.
