Hi everyone. Have some issue in regards to installing a new thermostat in my M42. Was wondering what the correct way is, in stalling the thermostat and the housing. Specifically, whether to use the Oring that came with the Stat and or the Reinz paper gasket. In addtion to, should i use Permatex as well? Was thinking just installing the Oring and using that Black rubber gasket sealer from Permatex to coat the complete housing. Thanks for the input..

Been a while since I did one on a M42 but I'm sure you use both the rubber oring that comes with the thermostat and a new paper gasket.

Just make sure if you use a liquid sealant that you keep the bleeder notch or passageway in the housing clear of sealant. It's also a good idea to scrape it out if it's crusted over.
