Title: M42 VEMS Help
Post by: rspec on November 03, 2016, 03:38:12 PM
Wired Up a PnP harness for 91 318i. All sensors read properly, crankshaft sensor is getting a signal and i have attached a trigger log. But I can't get the car to fire and run. It only cranks. Any Ideas? I have also tried switching one of the ignitions outputs to pin 11 and running batch fire. still no fire. Per VEM recommendation I cycled the ignition outputs, because they thought it was firing on exhaust stroke. But that didn't work either.

Here is my pinout sheet that I made and currently how it is wired up.

Your "TDC after the trigger" setting is wrong. With a first trigger tooth of 4, TDC is 94deg after.

TDC is on the rising edge of tooth 20 for both M42 and M44. Did you line up which tooth is at the CPS when at #1 cyl TDC? Maybe you have your own custom trigger arrangement?

If this setting is off your cars ignition and fueling angles will be way off.
