Title: I can't imagine what could be wrong.
Post by: Mint91 on September 16, 2016, 10:00:13 PM
Alright so I picked up a 91 318i in perfect condition, except the motor wasn't running, for $400 bucks!
Owner said it died one day in the parking lot and has zero compression in 1 and 2.

So I finally got around to doing a compression check today and confirmed ZERO compression on 1 and 2, while 3 and 4 were perfect.
Head gasket was in perfect condition, and oil didn't have a drop of coolant in it.

Pulled the valve cover, and this is what I find. Seems maybe an exhaust valve or two were open  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi

Snapped camshaft yep that will do it!
Never seen one snap in running car like that (oil issue?), thanks for sharing.
But if camshaft snapped the rear cylinders valves would not move.
1&2 at front near timing chain? Hmmm

Cheers Rohan
