hi,
im looking into fitting an aftermarket rev limiter to my race/rally engine.
I find that peak power is around 6500 on my car and it drops off fairly quickly after this. problem I have is I think my limiter is set at 7000/7200. Although my engine build is good for 8000, i find im staying in the 6500-7000 rpm as in going up hills etc where i could be changing gears. I know somebody will just say change gear then, but when rallying and going up steep hills alot of the time you just wait for the limiter when low down in the gears.
so ive been looking at different limiters that are available and from what I can see a single coil limiter should work.
baisiclly its 3 wires, A earth for the limiter, one positive and the other replaces the earth for the coil. Problem I have is from what I remmeber I have an earth that goes to the ecu, and an earth that goes to body/chassis.
can anybody tell me what each one does as I cant find a wiring diagram. if I could combine the two then it may help me a lot.

Would a shift light not be better warning of the impending rev limiter instead of hitting the limiter losing power and shifting? Probably much easier to install, and there are ones which can be tuned for each gear..

That seems a better idea, never thought of that. Ill have a further look into it!
