Hey guys,
I am looking for a shop to replace the m20 ring with the m42 on a m20 flywheel. I heard DynoTech Motorsports has done this and sent Todd an email as he closed the shop back in June 2015. I will call local shops in my area as well. If anyone knows of anyone in the South Florida area, that would be fine. I want to see the cost between this or getting with the m20 flywheel and m20 starter. I only need to buy the m20 flywheel as I have everything else on ordered and would require a used flywheel.

I don't know anything about Florida techs, and I don't mean to jack your thread...but didn't the later model M20 get the correct ring gear?

Are you interested in a M20 Lightweight Flywheel at 10-12lbs or standard 19lb one? And are you looking for one with the M42 ring gear already set on it?

Hey Dave, the later m20 FWs just require the m20 late starte. The m50 FWs can use the stock m42 starter.

Hey Ralph, yes I am looking for a m20 FW with the M42 ring already set on it. Or jsut an m20 FW and I will reuse the ring gear from my stock m42 FW. Then I will send it to get balance which might lighten it. I would hope to lighten it to the 16-18lb range as I dont really want to much take off. If I can't find this option, then I will just have to purchase a m20 starter as well and use it or change the pinion into the m42.

Ok... Balancing doesn't take kind of weight off. So you either leave it stock at 19lbs or actually lighten it to whatever you desire. The norm is reducing it to around 11-12lbs. You can go lighter if you'd like but that is a really nice weight.
Why don't you want to lighten it?
Did you already buy the clutch kit and TOB?

Yes already bought the cluth kit. Just need to source the flywheel, so looking at options and costs. I know I can get a lighter M50 flywheel new which is about $300, much cheaper than a new m20 flywheel. I know I can look for a used m20 FW, but then need the starter as well. I don't want to go to lighter to prevent any chattering since this is by daily and pretty much stock engine. So with the m20 FW I am already lighter than stock, so shaving a few pounds should be ok but don't want to go over the threshold of noisy for extra performance. The reason for the balancing would be to make sure all is well after the ring gear replacement. If I just go with m20, then I wouldnt have it lightened.
