I just purchased an adapter for my stock manifold thatd Ive never seen or heard of before but must see. I dont have much info so please let me know if you know something.

That's not for m42/m44.
That's for the m43 (kind of a m42/4 block with 8valve head instead of the 16v one).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M43
A few companies sold that adapter in the late 90's/eartly 00's here in europe. IIRC Mosselman was one.
M43 engine wasn't for sale in USA, only europe and some other places around the world (not usa).
m42/m44 and m43 manifolds are very different, the flange where that adapter bolts is different both in pipe sizes (holes) and bolt spacing.
Also m42/4 manifolds are longer and tubulars, the m43 is a more compact cast one.
The head flange is completely different between m43s and m42/4s, so the m43 manifold will not fit.
IIRC that adapter has a T25 turbine flange, but double check this, I may be wrong.
just to give you an idea, this is the m43 manifold, that adapter fit on this:

Damn this sucks. Hopefully this arrives today so i can verify. The seller promised this would fit so ill return the bitch if it doesnt. Yes i was vedy stoked to be able to use stock manifold in turbo build because of its excellent quality.
-
It makes sense though because i am struggling to figure where the hell the clearnence for turbo would be.
-
Ya it doesnt quite fit. The holes are spaced too far in. I think ill bee able to modify pretty easy though. Ill send pics tomorrow and this is a dbilas product apparently... clear as day their db is

I was going to weld up an adapter for the stock header, but there is not enough space for a good setup under the hood. I'd like to see one that fit well, but the only one I saw had the turbo mounted low and no AC.
-
This adapter does in fact fit the stock m42 manifold. Probably still issues but bolts right up no problems. I havent found any further info and seems this is the only one of these ever made but ill f##k with it.

Cool, keep us updated. 8)
-
But those outlet ports are the wrong shape!
-
Does anybody know how different the m43 manifold / head is to the m44, in terms of the location of the exhaust ports and volume of air able to flow the manifolds ?
I managed to aquire a turbo with a m43 manifold and this "rare" adaptor flange thing. However i have an m44, Instead of making a new turbo manifold i would ideally like to make an adapter flange to use the m43 manifold on my m44, Not sure how well it would all line up though. Dont Exactly see the m43 manifold being too restrictive for the m44 either as the m43 is a 1.8 and m44 1.9, so there should not be any major differences.
hopefully.

M43 is basically a timing chained m40.
So the ports will be round not oval like the dohc engines 42/44
-
So what if i had a chamfer put on the adaptor plates to make the ports go from from oval to round ?
Would this affect the exhaust gas flow majorly ?
-
Have a look at the itbs section with lamberus and use those measurements to see if you can do what you are suggesting.
The exhaust manifold on these cars are 1.5 inch, but are made oval at the exhaust ports. I'd start there and let us know how you go.
-
Will do, I hope to make a mock up adaptor plate out of wood by the end of next week.
-
Where did you buy this adapter? I am turboing my z3 with m43 engine and if i could find one of this adapters i would maintain the stock manifold.
