Title: WTB e30 m42 vibration damper
Post by: monty23psk on June 12, 2015, 10:09:24 PM
Car buckled and hesitated in traffice last night. Pulled over, towed it home and today noticed the damper is not in two pieces. The rubber gave way.

Need one shipped to 33156.

Thanks,

Alex,

Did you find one?  If not, I may have one on my spare motor.  You are referring to the pulley hub on the crank, right?

That is the part and thanks but I found one. There is a junkyard that only works with e30s, e36, and e46s.

I can get the part new but its $640. No need for that on an old engine. I rather get a m50.

Along the same lines as the OP, I had a no-start condition traced to a failed vibration damper (innermost rubber section had separated 1/4 inch away). Was able to find a good enough used one (11231721169) from eBay for $55, and the car started immediately after installing it.

With old age and miles I can see more having this. At least easy fix if used parts are found.
