Title: Lifter diagnosis and replacement.
Post by: BeemerDan on April 06, 2015, 11:12:07 AM
I am looking into replacing my valve lifters due to the common ticking. I need to do it cheap, but want to make sure I don't hurt the engine. I have a second M42 head that came with my car, but I have no knowledge of the condition of the lifters in that head. I am hoping those are good and I can put them in my engine. Is there a way to test the lifters out, or check them?
Also, do any of you have experience with these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-Valve-Hydraulic-Cam-Followers-Lifters-92-95-BMW-318is-318ti-1-8L-DOHC-M42-/140971760585?hash=item20d2925bc9&vxp=mtr
I am guessing they wouldn't last too long.

Thanks!
