Title: M42 rebuild guide
Post by: econti on February 10, 2015, 10:03:27 PM
Hi guys,
Is there a guide on rebuild the M42 anywhere? I have the E30 Haynes and Bentley, and E36 Bentley, and neither of them say. The closes is the E30 Haynes, which has some of the process for M40.
Does the E36 Haynes have the process?
Or do I just buy a book on how to rebuild engines in general and try apply most of it to mine?
Thanks

Just had a read through. Not quite what I'm after, but still helpful and greatly appreciated. Any M42 material is good material.

I'm really after just the M42 section of the E36 Haynes if anyone has an electronic copy. Or can confirm that it does indeed have a how to rebuild M42 section, as if it does I'll just buy one.

Econti - Yes, I have the Haynes E36 manual and it does have two sections (4 cyl M42/44 and M5x 6 cyl).  It has the full deal for removal and refit of an engine.

In fact, I just used it to do that very thing!   :D

This is great  - I will send you a PM,

Ive built enough to write a manual now, but it would be really nice to have a proper manual!
