Hi, I'm from Norway and is an owner of a BMW 318is E36 (M42b18) in 1993.
I want to make to allow the computer to be used for diagnosis of my car. I bought 15 pin OBD (right for my car). I tried to install INPA but found out that you had to have an old version of INPA and EDIABAS to run diagnostics on M42B18 engines.
Anybody can help me with what versions of program I need and links to where I can download them?
Thank you in advance! :)

First of all make sure that your interface is ADS compatible. See examples https://www.google.com/search?q=bmw+ads+interface&tbm=isch
Most of them are not. How much did you paid for yours? Can you post a picture?

Hello, thank you for answering!
I have one with ADS. It is the same as this one http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/shop/images/detailed/ADS4_small.jpg.
I paid around 50 (GBP).

The interface is good. Now the next step: you need a laptop with REAL serial interface, NO USB and NO PCMCIA adapters (some PCMCIA work but not 100%).
