Title: uk m42 tuning
Post by: mtechstevo on October 14, 2014, 07:36:45 AM
Hi all just signed up here as I have an e36 318is with said m42 engine and am looking for tuning tips. I want to go with an n/a setup as not many over here bother. I have found some uk injectors can be used off a vectors v6 in place of the mustang ones used over the the pond. I was wondering g what else other people do?

Any ideas gratefully received

Steve

Hey mtechstevo welcome to the club. The M42 from a n/a standpoint is very well tuned from the factory and you will be hard pressed to get much more power out of it with out doing some major modifications (i.e Cams/Stroker/ ITBs/ etc..) If you are looking for a small bump in power with out spending an arm and a leg though , I would recommend A good

Chip tune

Underdrive pulleys

Fan mod delete kit

And a light weight fly wheel.

If you do all the above it should be much more responsive and fun to drive as well as a small increase in BHP. Some other options after you have done all that would be to look at intake system's and exhaust systems all though the gains here are very minimal if any.

Good luck!
