Title: Need Right Side rain gutter molding!
Post by: 318idol on August 18, 2014, 06:20:33 PM
I need the right-side rain gutter moulding, p/n  51131884452 for a 1991 318i.  Any chance anyone has one?  The carwash pulled it off from the bottom of the windshield to the middle of the front door. The car is aesthetically perfect, so really need to repair it.  HELP!

good luck, been looking for the left side for a while now.   Blunt tech says they have them for sale,  but they want 150 bucks for what amounts to a 5 dollar piece, so as of yet I did not bite the bullet.

I had the same thing happen a couple years ago I bit the bullet and bought new ones when I couldn't find any locally at BMW parts yard.  You'll also need 4 of 51131863499 for each side, they're the clamps that hold it on the car.

Thanks for the tip. Portland BMW says they can get the OEM part from BMW in Germany, a mere $170. I only need the first 30 inches.

Im surprised you can actually get the part new from BMW.

I too lost a rain gutter, the left side when I was driving over a highway overpass/onramp... yea good luck searching for wherever that thing flew away to.

I know gutenparts.com had pairs of chrome rain gutters in stock for $70 and $30 shipping. I passed on that with hoping I'll have luck finding one at a scrap yard.
As of now it doesn't look like the company has any in stock.

By the way, when I get mine if clips are damaged or missing I'm not going to even bother. Im going to use windshield urethane to hold the piece down as it will be much stronger and not create rust spots like the clips did.

Speaking of the clamps, the leading edge of mine keeps coming loose. I suspect it is due to there not being a clamp there. I can't find a reference that shows where they are used. Anyone have a pointer to one?
Thanks,

Thanks,

I just searched realOEM.com for the part number listed above so verify the part #13 is the part you need.
