Title: compatibility of crank sensors????

so i have a e30 m42 which needs a new crank sensor and i wanted to know if an e36 m42 crank sensor wud be compatible since they have the same engine? can anyone confirm this?

 I got on to RockAuto.com and did a search on my 1991 E30 M42 and compared to what came up in a 1994 E36 318i and the sensors were not the same.

RealOEM..com says they are not the same as well:

E30 1991 318is M42
