Title: New daily driver
Post by: Nick_318is on May 19, 2014, 03:41:22 PM
I bought a new daily driver over the weekend.  A slightly used 2013 BRZ, what do you guys think?

FYI my old daily a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT is listed in the classifieds if anyone is interested.

I've heard they're terrific little cars. One of the few real sports cars still available new.

How would you compare it with the E30?

After a couple days with it, it feels similar to an e30, very nimble, similar weight, a little better power.  It needs stickier tires and I need to find a way to totally kill the traction control. But like the m42 it loves to get revved out, if they ever make a turbo/sti version I may have to trade this towards one.

I thought I was going to open up a thread showing a late model, four door 3 series.

Pretty spiffy! 8)

I really thought about getting an E46 M3 as a daily but was concerned with maintenance costs on a high strung 10+ year old car. I thought this would be a cheap fun driver that I could track occasionally and I wouldn't have to worry about fixing things since it will be under warranty.  My wife has a practical car so nothing for me to worry about as long as we don't have kids.

If you have kids just get an E28 528e super eta, and swap in a M42 from an e30.  I wonder if anyone has done that?

I would think that the gas mileage would be shit and the performance would be as well.  Too much weight for the M42, and not a useful powerband for the car.

I think the old e28 "518" had a carbureted m10 up until 84 and then went to fuel injected for more power so an m42 would be a nice lil upgrade   :D They never sold them here in the US though *thank god* just not enough power for that body  :-\

No e28s for now. But, I did buy some new shoes for the warm months.
