Title: So my son calls...
Post by: deansweet on May 01, 2014, 07:56:17 AM
and says his car is having issues starting and keeping idle?
I ask a few questions and decide to order a new fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs/wires, etc.

He's at school and his drive home is approx 40 miles and makes it here with no problem.
We replace all the parts and only thing I notice is #1 plug has some oil seepage so I order a new gasket kit.
Go to start and the throttle is seriously messed up. You have to tap it to drop the throttle body to off.
Thing does not come down smoothly when running. No pattern, just slow, drop, slower, finally coming to rest.
Pedal simply feels weird.

This was inside the plastic sleeve. It's like a hair ball of unwound cable?!
Cheapest I could get the new cable was actually from BMW dealer. $29.

But with 181k on the clock. Look at how clean the head is?

Ended up having to fix 5 bolt holes from previous owner who apparently felt the need for 7lbs of torque wasn't sufficient?

Good catch! That'd be a really tough one to diagnose, I'd bet.

Can't be too careful with those cyl head cover bolts, can you?
