Title: Washer Pump Power
Post by: Slowered318 on April 11, 2014, 12:09:26 AM
Can someone with a multimeter do me a huge favor?

I'm getting 12 volts on both the purple/black and brown/black wires at the washer pump, it doesn't seem right but it could be normal? In the middle or replacing all the headlight wires from the fuse box forward, I want to know if I have shorted something out in the process.

If it stops raining I'll put a DMM on mine.

Looking at the ETM, I'd bet 12VDC on both sides means a damaged wiper control relay. But that wiring is a bit odd, like a lot of E30 systems. Did you try jumping the pump directly?

I haven't hooked up the pump or put any load on that wire yet, don't want to damage the relay. The fact this circuit has a 30 amp fuse and 18 or 20 gauge wire already concerns me a bit

When I discovered this I immediately cursed and ran for the battery terminal. lol
