Hi guys
Thinking about getting a podi vent gauge alpina style. Any reviews?
I know that they where basically developed in another bmw forum.
Thanks

first time I hear about podi... looks sweat!!!
do you know about zada tech? they also do nice stuff...
-
No I have never heard of zada tech. Do they do anything in particular for e30?
It's just that I believe these high comp motors should have oil pressure gauges and alpina vent gauges are dear as poison!
So I am looking at a solution.
Podi could be a great solution.
-
no they don't do anything E30 specific, but they offer customizable gauges which may be interesting depending on your taste/goal...
but nothing can beat an alpina style vent gauge!

I like that multi gauges display... :-* it looks like it can fit in place of the radio...

Would be really nice to have an Oil pressure/temp and a real water temp gauge. Just can't afford the $500 Podi setup at the moment.
-
That is a nice setup there.
But replacing the radio with it, will make it to low and too left?
-
it all depends on the information displayed:
- monitoring systems (oil temp/press, water temp, fuel press, etc...) then it doesn't matter as you don't watch it too often and it's not critical to drive
- indicating systems (AFR, boost, EGT, RPM...) then yes it's too low. such indicators needs to be easily seen without leaving the road from view

Hi
I did this recently and thought I'd put a bit of a review in.
The guage itself is excellent, photo not so good with regards to reflection from the light.
Pros
Dims when you put the lights on, very handy.
Choose any colour you like red, orange or blue.
Choose any sensors you like.
I chose afr, voltage, oil pressure and fuel pressure
Metric or imperial units are options.
You can move the outputs around by using the control pad just below it!
A very nice piece of kit,
and a hell of a lot cheaper than alpina guage pod.
Cons
Once you chose your guage options that is it!
The control pad should be a little bigger so it completely takes the button position.
Getting a oil sensor in position is a pain on a m40/42. But that has nothing to do with the podi guage. Because they argue with the engine bracket.
All in all a highly recommended addition if you are modifying your engine or just want to keep a eye on it. But choose your 3-4 gauges carefully.
Thanks Rohan
