Title: m42 e36 crankshaft needed.
Post by: isa4banger on March 14, 2014, 04:55:47 PM
Hi guys  I am in need of a crankshaft, mine is finished due to the 180 degree thrust bearing. I am from the uk and all i can find for sale is complete engines, and not guarantee on the crankshaft after strip down. I have only found one and was quoted silly money. If anyone has one etc, or could point me in the direction it would be most appriciated. The car it came out of is a e36 318ti 1995 n reg with only 83k on the clock yes it is a m42 not a m44.

thanks

I have one but I still need it for another week, plus I'm in oz!
Good nick though.
Here's a thought though m40 crankshaft. If there is a difference it will be in the timing belt/chain.

I'll keep an eye out - the M42 is pretty common here, but prices are usually high. I'd be looking for someone that swapped in an M50; they'll usually have a complete running M42 ready to go.

For the right amount I am willing to part out my engine I have in my storage.  PM me what you are willing to pay.  Shipping may cost a bit from US to UK though.

thanks guys for your help really appreciated.  I really need to find one, for the second engine for my kit car the one in it at the moment is a m44 and she has star ship mileage. I like the m42 and all its slightly self destructing problems, its a good strong block and forged internals, I feel a little gentle force induction coming, not much just a little. Ater a bit of beefing up of course!!!!
