Hey last week I bought a new car it needed some help and still does, but My dad and I replaced the guibo and two belts. It has an oil leak which we think is the oil filter housing and the sun/moonroof doesnt work. It needs a respray and a few things hear and there. Heres a few pictures!

Mine has an electric sunroof too. If I'm not mistaken, it was installed by ASC as a dealer option.

Your motor has all that yellow crap on it too!  Awesome to see a moonroof, I didn't even know E30's came with those.

How's it running?

yellow crap=cosmoline. a corrsion resistant used in the factory.  Brake Cleaner works wonders for getting it off. Just be careful on the paint.

Nice car.  My Next e30 will be a silver with black 318is. Best color combo in my opinion.  Uncommon too.

My dad and I think the oil is leaking from where the drop in oil filter is, but we are not 100% positive. I think we are going to track it down when he gets back from his trip. And I will defentally show yall the progress of my car and his. (if he even does anything)

dude quoting a response is not too difficult..just hit the "quote" button on whichever post you want to respond to.

when i want to quote multiple posts i just open up each quote on a separate page and just copy and paste everything into one response.

i still haven't figured out how the multi-quote works..

oh and to keep it on topic, keep us posted on the oil leak problem!

Title: Have your dad ditch his 318i steel wheels
Post by: G-Man on January 10, 2007, 11:27:45 PM
& the hubcaps.  I just replaced my steel wheels on my 91 318i with some E30 bottlecap wheels.  They are a dime a dozen at the pik-a-part yard.

The best E30 color combo IMHO is black with tan interior.  I have a black with black interior 318i which I replaced with a tan interior from my 91 318i parts car.  It now looks so much better with the tan interior and bottlecaps.  I pulled the new tires off the steel wheels  from the parts car and mounted them on the bottlecaps (BF Goodrich Traction TA's).

Congrats on your score, I see you are missing your E30 center caps, they go for $62 each, so hang on to them if you have them.

I relinquish the cosmoline title I have regrettably held for some time. I lust after some of the engine compartments I see. They were probably resprayed while the motor was out. May be the photos but are you missing part of the windshield seal strip?
As to paint, it's about  $500 for primer, base, and clear coat in Glasurit, Spies-Hecker, Sikkens, etc. It's the same in Dupont and PPG for their top of the line. You can get lower quality and price in Dupont and PPG but not the the first three.
