Title: M42 Oil Sump Change
Post by: Big.D on December 07, 2013, 06:29:09 AM
Hi all
I'm after a bit of advice regarding my oil sump i have a hair line crack in it which have patched up with chemical metal but i have got a new sump ready to fit. But what i want to know is when it comes to fitting the new sump will i have to have the engine hoisted out slightly in order to get the sump of or is there an easier way of doing it without lifting the engine up to gain access.

Cheers
Dale

Haven't done it myself on an M42, but I'd figure lifting the motor is required. It's mounted pretty close to the subframe and steering rack.

No lifting or tilting is req,d if it is only the lower oil pan being replaced. I just did mine. the holes for the bolts just might req a retap as did 5  of mine. very easy to so and get to.
