Title: E36 m42 into e30 wiring problem
Post by: OfirAs on September 28, 2013, 10:32:33 AM
Hi,
I swapped my m40 to m42 from e36.
I took the engine from e30 that was with m10.

In the c101 connector everything is ok
The fuel pump is not working, when i connect it directly it fine.
And also i dont have spark.

What could be the problem?

Any direction could be helpfull.

Thanks,
Ofir.

Might be Bosch's EWS protection.  If so, you'll have to clip a wire on the DME harness to get the motor to start.

One more problem is that the ECU is getting hotter when i connet the battery and the switch is off.
How can i find the EWS protection on the harness?
The guy that i took the engine from him told me that he bought harness without this protection.

Thanks alot for the help.
