Title: Oil Filter Housing
Post by: ti_tony on June 28, 2013, 06:09:03 PM
I'm changing the o-ring and paper gasket out and having trouble finding the torque specs for the 6 bolts. I did a search and found a lot of good threads on the subject but no specs on the bolts, anybody have those?

They might be listed in the factory torque manual:

Thanks for the link, I found the oil filter housing but it calls for 8mm bolts and mine are 6mm. I'll use the specs on page 4 for 6 mm. In the table they list
   m6 thread                m6  8.8    9.9Nm
                                 m6  10.9   14.0Nm
                                 m6  12.9   16.9Nm
I'm not sure what the 8.8  -  10.9  -  12.9  stands for? I suspect strength of material, higher number more torque?

Page 37 is the page I'm looking at with the oil filter housing.

Torque specs are 7.1 FtLbs/89 InLbs on the housing.

Thanks deansweet, I've got everything cleaned up and should be able to put it together tomorrow.

The 8.8  -  10.9  -  12.9 numbers refer to the hardness or strength rating for the bolts.  The number will appear on the head of the bolt.

Thanks colin, I found this site last night        http://euler9.tripod.com/bolt-database/22.html      I'm use to slash marks and "grade markings"

I got the housing back together and changed the o-ring on the oil dip stick and everything is nice and dry.
