Hi guy's I'm new here at m42club.com :)
Some of you probably know me from around but I wanted to post pictures and some information about my e30.
So this is the car, a 1986 316. It has a m10b18 engine with a carburator and
a five speed gearbox. It came from factory with just about no extras so it is
pretty light (1000kg).

I was offered a (almost) complete m42 engine conversion and well yes I
jumped on it mainly because the price was right. The car being equiped with
a carburator left it with out a fuel pump and a fuel return line, that needs to
be fabricated. Everything else should be pretty straight forward.
I have a complete 5 lug swap from a 1987 ///M3 along with H&R springs so all
I need for the suspension are some shocks, preferably Bilstein Sports and a
Poly Urethane bushing kit from Powerflex.
I recently picked up a ///M-Technik 1 spoiler kit, only need to source the
boot spoiler.

Also a set of four 16x8 BBS Basketweaves, the tyres are way to big, but I'll
buy new ones before summer (I'm thinking 215/45/16)

The front part of the exhaust I'm keeping stock but I'm going with a
///M-Roadster silencer in the back.

I think the m20 flywheel/clutch combo is the way to go so I'm installing a
lightened 325i flywheel, a 325i clutch disk and a 325i pressure plate.

New low beams.

Thinking about going for the m50 coils (I might change my mind and go for
the rounded coils (like the once in that groupbuy))

Also have a maplight rear view mirror that would be a nice addon I think.

My other car is 1989 325i Touring with a very respectable list of mods, I've
had this car for about three years now and I'm thinking about selling it soon :)

hate to break it to ya, but theres some dude over on R3V that has an early body e30 with an m42 dropped in. Mtech 1 goodies as well...very very nice car!
oh and i can't wait to see how your 316 comes out!
the touring is gorgeous!

That car is "lite"! I would definitely do all the mods with low weight in mind. That power to weight ratio (M42 in a 1986 316) compares to a US model 318is with about 155-160 HP. Sounds fast and quick!

I have front seats from a Mk1 Gti Golf that are much lighter than the e30 ones, I'm going to install them before summer and I will probably move the battery to the trunk because of the added weight of the m42. LSD would also be nice but I'll probably have to import one because there are not many left here in Iceland :)

Picked up the springs today

I'm picking the engine conversion up sometime over the weekend, going to change out gaskets and headbolts and clean it up real good befor it goes in :)

sick!

Picked up the engine today and was happy to find out I got everything I need for the swap except the fuel pump, I didn't think I'd be getting the radiator, driveshaft and complete exhaust but I was lucky :)
The silencer is from remus but I'm not sure if I will use it because of the large exhaust tips (dtm style) and if it will be too loud for daily driving. Also got a k&n drop-in filter which is nice.
I will start the conversion early next month, the engine needs paint and I want to check out the timing chain and tensioner + put in a fresh headgasket and bolts befor it goes in.
I will post pics and info as the project comes along :D

Nice. Always a fan of big projects!
