Title: Engine Management Options?
Post by: Gruntc1 on December 14, 2012, 07:49:31 PM
I'm new to the tuning and engine management systems but i have been working on my 318is for about a year and a half and i have been wondering about getting into tuning it... So far my main problem is ignorance and my noob status, so I would like it if someone could spell out everything I need to do in order to get a nice and reliable(minimally invasive) set up in my car. I've done some research on possibly getting started and too many people have individual opinions and info is so far spread across the spectrum that It's hard to find M42 specific information. My other main issue is that i will be using a Macbook Pro laptop... tuning seems to shun these but i would like to know if anyone has any luck regarding similar setups. Thanks in advance.

Search... Read.. Search.. Read..

I was in the same boat and google is your friend.  Look for tips on afr tuning and timing.

I dont think any standalone or piggyback systems work on a mac

Im running tunerpro with ostrich2.0 using midnighttuning solutions software.

Good luck

Yes he is.

For the OP, you arent finding info on a minimially invasive solution because that would be nearly impossible. If you dont want to experiment and take the time to learn about how the control systems work, its going to be a disaster. Just go with an off the shelf solution.
