Hey guys,
Just finished my direct m42 swap. Took a 91 m42 and put it in a 91 318is. Just replaced some parts on it, did the intake mess etc...
So we buttoned everything up the other night (wiring harness, the last few grounds and hoses etc), i go to start the car, SHE CRANKS, sounds like shes gonna start! then dies...
any ideas?!
100 bucks to you if you figure this out either via web or if you come to my house! Bay Area !

MAF is hooked up, all lines are hooked up except the heater lines...
-
does it runs if you shoot ether in the intake?
check spark at plugs?
-
im confused at what you mean by "ether"
checked spark, im getting spark at all 4 plugs. and im getting fuel.
-
ether = starting fluid if it starts up on the fluid then dies, its not getting fuel

Did you accidentally switch the fuel lines? Easy to do!
-
Traced the fuel lines back to the tank, we have them correct. Could it be the MAF?
-
just tried a working MAF off a friends car, still nothing
-
Have you disconnected any sensors coolant, cam and crank position, TPS? Breather?

she starts!! now she misfires
